The Goddess comes to India twice in a year – the time of harvest each time. She is known by many names. But Mother suits her best. Everybody calls her Mother. Whether she visits other planets in the Universe or not will be certainly known when man settles there. But surely She does not visit any other country – not with such a huge pomp and show scale - as in India.
With Indian belief that God is present in every animated being or lifeless object, She is the God. At least her followers think so.
It is also written in Indian scriptures, say experts, that when Brahama, the creator of birth process for animated beings, woke up and understood his duties, he became very proud. And highhanded. Then he heard a Woman's mocking laughter. She said : “You are not my only creation. I have created thousands of Brahmas in this Universe.” That brought Brahama down to earth and he knelt and asked forgiveness. So the tale goes on.
Scriptures pray Her in many Sanskrit stanzas. One of them says : “That Goddess who is established in all the living beings as “Mercy”, we bow to her, we bow to her, we bow to her.”
Topical question is how much mercy man shows to his fellow beings, animals, birds and flora and fauna ?
News headlines : Theacher beats student to death. Wild animals killed for their innards' sale, etc., etc.
In India we expect Her mercy without ourselves being kind and forgiving.
